One the several stunning views from Venice Attic
One the several stunning views from Venice Attic

If you are visiting Venice and staying for some days, the best possible address will be sleeping in a beautiful luxurious brand new restored attic in the center of Venice.  High quality experience at a low cost, it will cost you less then half the price of a  3star hotel. Venice Attic (veniceattic@gmail.com), located in the ancient and central Sestriere of San Polo (the same Sestiere where Rialto Bridge is located) has a spectacular view over the rooftops of the palaces of Venice, and of course the majestic basilica of Santa Maria Gloriosa dei Frari.

Even though the apartment is situated within easy reach of all the main sights of Venice, visitors are able to immerse themselves in authentic Venetian life in the neighbouring areas. This privileged and sought-after position ensures that our guests will have an unforgettable experience.

Centrally located in the historic centre, the apartment occupies a unique position for visiting the centre: the Grand Canal is just 100 metres away, while the Rialto Bridge and St Mark’s Square are just a few minutes walk away. The church of Santa Maria Gloriosa dei Frari and the Scuola San Rocco are on your doorstep while the most famous museums (Accademia Gallery and the Guggenheim Museum) are a 15 minute walk away. Just 300 metres away you will find Campo Santa Margherita that thanks to its many bars is the most lively square in Venice and a favourite spot for young people.

The closest water bus or vaporetto stop (San Tomà) is located nearby (200 m) providing you with easy access to all the main destinations including the seaside resort of the Lido.

Historic building: as proven by the epigraph above the entrance, the famous scholar and writer Gaspare Gozzi was born here in 1713. In 2009 the apartment was elegantly restored and completely renovated while the rest of the building bears witness to the passing of time.

The apartment has an independent kitchen, a living room with a wonderful view over both sides, a loft and a bathroom with shower. There is also a double bedroom and a large second bedroom with a single bed and a bunk bed. Thanks to the sofa bed in the living room and an extra bed in the loft (the loft is just 1.7 m high) the apartment can sleep a maximum of 8 guests.

I reccomand Venice Attic as the best Venice accomodation address! Don’t miss it.

You can rent Venice Attic for your vacation directly writing to the owner, Luigi, at veniceattic@gmail.com .

If you are spending some days in Venice you will probably have time to visit Padua also.

Padua is a very nice city just 30 kilometers from Venice and easy to be reached by several trains (travel about 40 minutes). Hisorical town with a very ancient university. One day visit must include Prato della Valle and St. Antony Church, Giotto’s masterpiece at the Cappella degli Scrovegni, a walk in the city centre with the university building (Bò), the beautiful squares (piazza delle Frutta, Erbe, Signori, San Nicolò, Cavour) and the main streets including the ancient Ghetto. This area you will find many nice restaurants. Also suggested a break in the fantastic Caffè Pedrocchi (also for lunch).

Do you want to make a perfect spring-summer pizza break in Venice?

Just 100 meters from water bus stop called “San Tomà”, directly on the Grand Canal, you will find the fantastic and charming tiny “campo” (square) of Venice front of San Tomà church. In the campo you can eat a pizza in the only restaurant with open air seats. So cosy and so beautiful you will come back the day after. After lunch a few steps to visit the close basilica dei Frari (Tiziano’s paintings) or the Scuola Grande di San Rocco (Tintoretto).

Il Ridotto

The innovative and intimate 12-seat eaterie in Campo Santi Filippo e Giacomo features exposed brick, mirrors, coloured Murano glasses, Versace coffee cups and Rosenthal plates. Charismatic patron/chef Gianni Bonaccorsi is on hand to guide you through the seasonal menu or suggest the day’s specials, which vary according to the fare available at the market. You’ll be offered the freshest fish, such as a trio of tartares made with salmon, mullet and red prawns, often served with various tangy fruit and vegetables concoctions, and dishes imaginative twists, such as black squid ink tortelli (a larger type of tortellini) filled with sea bass. Bonaccorsi is also an italian wine expert, and the drinks list is as impressive as cuisine. One more reason to visit Venice.

On top of the new Hilton, located in an 1895 neo-Gothic former flour mill and granay on Giudecca, is the city’s only rooftop pool – a great place to catch some awe-inspiring views. A € 200m restoration transformed the complex into a 380-room hotel but maintained its red-brick facade and pointed turrets.

Yesterday I went visiting the brand new restored museum of contemporary art at Punta della Dogana

Tadao Ando made a fantastic job and the Pinault collection is perfectly displayed in the ancient place where forigners traders used to declare their goods before storing or selling goods in Venice. Every thing is really modern but incredibly according to the building. The core is the big concrete box that Ando created in the middle of the available space.

The Pinault collection (over 3000 pieces) is rotating inside the two venician museums (with the same ticket you can visit also Palazzo Grassi museum). Don’t forget to walk outside around Punta della Dogana to have the gratest breathtaking view of Venezia.

In the good season, when you walk along the Rio della Frescada in the San Polo area of Venice (this canal is just a few meters from the Grand Canal and acting as natural borderline beween the sestiere of San Polo and the sestiere of Dorsoduro) you cannot miss to take a fantastic drink in one of the few outdoor tables of this cosy bar - restaurant.

The tree and the light breeze (rio della frescada means “breeze canal”!) will complete this fantastic drink breake in Venice. This fantastic and romantic place is just a few steps from Venice Attic where you can rent the luxury apartment for your Venice holiday (more info at veniceattic@gmail.com and in this blog “Accomodation” category).
